Hollywood and its neighbors — Meggett, Yonges Island, the Toogoodoo — sit on the tidal seam of Charleston County: creeks and marsh on one side, pine and oak upland on the other, and family land everywhere between. It is some of the prettiest ground in the Lowcountry, and it grows over as fast as any of it. Myrtle walls off the water views, smilax stitches the woods shut, and parcels held in families for generations quietly become impossible to walk.
We open ground like this for a living. The mulcher takes the understory out from beneath the oaks and pines, homesites come open without a bulldozed scar, and the long back acres get lanes cut so you can actually reach your own creek line again.

Clearing near tidal water carries a responsibility inland ground does not: whatever washes off your parcel goes straight to the creek. That is the strongest argument for mulching in Hollywood. Grinding leaves the root mat intact under a chip blanket, so the ground stays put through the summer thunderstorms — no bare-dirt slope bleeding into the Toogoodoo.
The reward for doing it right is the view. A myrtle wall ground out from under the oaks turns a hidden marsh into the property’s best feature, and the selective finish looks like it was always meant to be open.
A lot of Hollywood ground is heirs’ land — held long, loved from a distance, and overgrown in the meantime. Bringing a parcel like that back starts with access and honesty: cut a lane in, walk what is actually there, and decide what the land should be next. We do that first walk free, and the plan that comes out of it is priced in phases a family can actually manage.
From there the work is our standard kit: clearing the usable acres, mowing the open ground on a rotation, and setting up the hunting corners — this is fine deer country toward the Edisto side — with lanes and plots like we run on our own tract.
